Synopsis

Calvin Parish They call me Hero. I defend. I protect. I ask for nothing in return, and that makes me good. Doesn’t it?
That which makes me the ultimate predator also feeds dark impulses I’ve learned to control—until I bring her too close. For years I’ve watched her from afar, but what started out as duty has become obsession.
Cataline Ford I work hard. I play by the rules. I’m content. My scars are quiet and invisible, and that keeps me hidden. Doesn’t it?
One fateful walk home, I’m taken by someone I didn’t know I should fear. Captive and afraid, nobody will tell me why I’m confined to this hauntingly beautiful mansion. I’m given everything; I have nothing. He takes what he needs from me, and for that I hate him. But I might have loved him once.
And just because you’re reading this doesn’t mean I survive him.

Excerpt
He’s swimming toward me, closing in, and I retreat until my shoulder blades hit the lip of the pool.
“Your fate is in my hands,” he says.
“I accept that,” I say. His surprised expression is so rare that I almost lose my train of thought. “What I can’t accept is not knowing my fate. If you’ll just tell me if I’ll live or die, tell me what I’m doing here, what my purpose is, and if it’s . . . forever, I promise—I will be better.”
“You ask for a lot.” He steps within inches of me so our faces almost touch.
“Tell me that, and I won’t ask for anything else.”
He raises his hand to run his thumb over my cheekbone. The room is silent save for the acute splash echo of pool water. His fingers slide down my face and under my hair, where they wrap around the nape my neck. “You look sexy when you’re wet, Cataline.”
My eyelids threaten to close, but I force myself to hold his gaze.
He lowers his mouth to my ear. “You’d make a beautiful mermaid,” he whispers. “But, then, how would I fuck you?”

Excerpt
Mike pushed the door closed with the kind of unhurried movement that reeked of confidence. He leaned back against the wood, crossing his arms over his chest. Quinn stepped forward, hat in one hand and a black gym bag in the other. She frowned and glanced up at his face. “A SEAL always keeps a bag handy. Mike and I have everything we need in here.” He dropped the bag at his feet, followed by his hat. “Everything?” She guessed he meant more than a clean shirt and deodorant. “For tonight anyway.” Quinn stalked forward, his body now so close she had to lift her chin high to meet his gaze. “Reality-check time. I’ll ask you again. Do you want this, Reagan? Because we’re not some pansy-ass Ken doll version of Doms.” He caught her wrists and drew them behind her back, holding them there with one hand. Her pussy throbbed. She tested his hold, wanting, no, needing to struggle. He tightened his grip. Firm. Inescapable. Quinn used his grip to push her up against him. “You’re caught, sweetness. And that’s just a preview of things to come. We’re gonna order you about, tie you up, eat your pussy till you’re begging us to let you come, say no because that’s the kind of bastards we are, then we’re gonna eat you up all over again.” He lifted his free hand and ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “I want to discover all the ways you light up when we bury our cocks inside that warm heaven between your legs. You’ll come when we say so and not before. Defy us and you’ll be punished. Still interested?” Dominated. Tied. Theirs. Her mouth opened but her voice refused to cooperate. Mike pushed off the door. “We need the words, Reagan.” “Y-yes.” Quinn lessened his hold until her hands fell away to her sides. Somehow, the action left her…bereft. “Strip,” Mike ordered. “Here, in the hallway?” They had to be kidding. Mike’s mouth pressed down in a harsh line. But it was his cold stare washing over her like an icy bath that made her gulp. She hurried to remove her shirt and tank top. Her fingers struggled to get a grip, as if covered in woolen mittens. Why did the guys have to stand so close? Dragging the tank top over her head, the easy-fit cotton now impersonated skin-tight spandex, hooking on her elbows until with one hard pull, she managed to lurch free. Sexy, Reagan. With her gaze lowered, she dropped the clothing at her feet. Thank God for front-closing bras. Her breasts spilled out. Don’t think about all that pale skin. Just hurry. They’re waiting. The white cotton joined the rest of her clothing. After toeing off her sneakers, she pulled her panties down with her jeans. The cool air wafted over her bare skin. She shivered. There she was, naked in front of Mike and Quinn. And yet, every part of her was alive with a slow burn that kindled from deep between her legs. She moved her gaze from Quinn’s boots to her chest. The hard points of her nipples stood like beacons, screaming her arousal. Oh, heck, her breasts. She raised her arms. “Hands by your sides, sugar.” Quinn’s deep voice cut in. Lowering her hands was like refusing to swim even as the water closed over her head. Her fingers twitched. A tightness filled her belly. Standing there, like a horse on display, seemed so wrong. Shouldn’t she argue back? “We’re going to push you, Reagan. Well beyond what you’re used to from a partner. In or out of bed.” Mike tilted his head. “Have you been with a Dom before?” “No.” Only in her dreams. This reality was so much more. Mike walked behind her. She forced herself not to swivel around. Look ahead. Chin up. A line of knuckles brushed against her butt cheek. She started. Her breasts jiggled. Mike’s chuckle singed her ears. “Easy, sub.” She dragged her gaze up to Quinn’s face. The heat of his stare made her stomach muscles quiver, as if he’d twirled a feather over her belly button. “Ever been tied up?” Mike’s hand curved over her hip. “No.” Her face heated. It seemed so foreign and carnal, talking about bondage in such a matter-of-fact way. “Spanked?” “N-no.” She coughed past the shag pile carpet coating her throat. “I haven’t done anything, besides, you know, normal stuff.” Two lovers at college and an ex-boyfriend in Sheridan. All missionary men, and she wasn’t talking bibles. This time Quinn chuckled. “We’re gonna open up a whole new world for you, sweetheart.”

I live in the sunny environs of Sydney, Australia, and share a house with my dog, Letty. Oh, and the flock of cockatoos that take over the back yard each afternoon, demanding their feed of Arnott's Milk Arrowroot Biscuits. Things get a little noisy around 3.00pm in our household.
My love of romance started back when I was twelve and my mum's stash of Mills and Boon novels proved too much of a temptation. At fifteen, I decided the life of a romance writer was for me. Some...ah...years later, I've clawed together enough gumption to make my dream a reality. When not sitting in front of the computer, I can be found in the garden or enthralled watching a murder mystery DVD. I limit myself to reading other authors' work between writing my own stories. Books are my 'shiny' distractions.

Excerpt
I have no trouble spotting him—he looks like a picture. Business casual in grey pants and a pale blue button-down, sprawled across a plaid blanket with a picnic basket at his feet. His eyes are closed and his arms are folded behind his head.
I want to make a meal out of him.
Slowly, I move toward him, not wanting to disturb this image. I just want to savor him for a few more minutes.
A warm smile stretches across his face. Busted.
You like what you see?” he asks, eyes still closed.
I play it cool and take a seat next to him on the blanket, fighting the incredible urge to mount him.
The picnic?” I ask, refusing to feed his ego. “Yes, it looks fab.”
He opens his eyes and they look even brighter against his shirt. “So, that’s how you’re going to play it, huh?”
I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I smirk. How am I supposed to be sexy around this guy? He catches my every move. “I’m just very excited for our picnic.”
Well, I’m very excited to see you,” he says, before yanking me down on top of him.

Come and find out about Her Favourite Vice, Holden Granger's new novel

Kelly Thomas has worked hard to make detective and be taken seriously as a cop. Now she’s been given her first major case on the Vice Squad, and it’s the kind that can make a career. Going undercover to pose as a high-end escort is going to push her to the limits of her comfort zone. The fact that her new partner, veteran detective Ryan Mackie, tempts her in very unprofessional ways doesn’t make things any easier. Can she keep her cool even as the case heats up?

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Please tell us a little about yourself
I’m Holden Granger, a writer with a lifetime of experience, but only a few years experience of writing anything that the public would want to read. I’ve been a banker, a private investigator, a video producer and political campaign manager.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?
I’m always intrigued with stories about people who have to pretend to be someone else. Spies, undercover cops and writers of erotica all have to get into a role. I thought there was a fun story in to be written from that.

When did the characters first pop into your head?
In this case, the core idea for the plot came first, then I asked what kind of people would be interesting to see live through it. The heroine and hero just kind of grew into it.

Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way?
I always hope for surprises as I write, that’s how I know I’m onto a good story. In this case, a character I had thought would play a very minor role became a much bigger part of the story than what I had planned, and I think she adds a lot to the story.

Where do you like to write?
I have an antique desk in my bedroom where I write. It’s the perfect size, and I can hide out without distraction.

Do you read a lot?
I don’t read as much as I’d like, and I read mostly nonfiction right now. I wish I had more time for it. My Kindle has been a huge help. I can take it anywhere and read a few pages whenever I’m stuck waiting for someone or something.

Who are some of your favourite authors?
Last summer I read Jules Verne for the first time as an adult, and really enjoyed it. I also enjoy Mario Puzo, Neil Gaiman and Anne Rice.

And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there?
The hardest thing for me has been to just sit down and do it. We’ve all heard the same thing of lot of writers out there, but it is true. The best writers have made it habit to sit down and write every day. What has helped me enormously is working on a couple of stories at once. When I feel blocked on one, I work on the other.

EXCERPT
Ryan reached out and pulled her in slowly. Kelly looked down in a flirty display of mock shyness. Ryan gripped her chin and tilted her face upwards toward his. She was momentarily distracted by the how the gentleness of his grip contrasted with the hands that looked so hard and rough. All other thought vanished as he leaned down. Kelly's mind had time register that they were about to kiss when his lips touched hers.
It was for the benefit of the camera. This was her police partner, but the kiss chased the reservations away. His lips were soft but demanding, and his hands drifted to her hips, pulling her against him. She felt his mouth open and hers followed. She wondered for a moment what tongues were supposed to do in a fake kiss. He answered the question as he tasted her. This wasn't a fake kiss. His tongue teased her and she melted into him.
He pulled away. She moaned a little in disappointment and was shocked to realize it wasn't all an act.
"I've waited a long time for this. I've got to have you," Ryan said, reaching for the bottom of her dress. Kelly went stiff, but Ryan felt her tension and gave her a wink.
Kelly relaxed and grinned back. This was a show, but they could have fun with it.
"Aren't you impatient," Kelly said with a scolding laugh "Is this how you treat a lady?" She made sure her back was to the camera as she moved closer to the side of the bed.
"I'm not waiting another minute," Ryan said and reached again for the hem of her dress.
This time she let him have it and obediently raised her arms. Ryan lifted the dress over her head. He paused, studying her a little too long for her comfort. In a silk lace bra that in stronger light would be nearly transparent and a tiny thong that barely covered her sex, Kelly struggled not to be self-conscious. She'd never expected to have to reveal this much in a sting operation.

AUTHOR  INTERVIEW

Please tell us a little about yourself
I’m from Southwest Missouri where I live with my husband and a very spoiled Japanese chin named PeeWee. In my down time, my favorite activities are hiking, reading, watching movies, and poking around the internet to find the weirdest stuff available. I write historical, paranormal, and steampunk romances.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?
For our honeymoon, my husband and I went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We've made it a habit to go down at least once a year. It's kind of a magical place, very old, so it has an otherworldly feeling about it because it's home to the one of the largest collections of Victorian homes in America. It's settled in the Ozark Mountains on top of steep hills and deep valleys. There are a lot of springs, hence the name, and people in the 19th century believed the water had healing properties. I thought it would be interesting to write a novel set to that theme.

When did the characters first pop into your head?
I started writing Wildwood Spring in July 2013. I wanted to do something that was a little like Beauty and the Beast, with the heroine who's kind of odd compared to the others she knows and a hero who wasn't the kind of person who would be socially acceptable, even if he was privileged. Celia, the heroine, is named for my great-great grandmother on my mom's side. Turner, the hero, is actually the married surname of my great-great grandmother on my mom's side. I love incorporating a little personal history with my characters.

Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way?
I'm a total pantser. I might have a good idea of how the novel ends, but I let the characters guide me, so every time I sit down to write is an adventure. Most of the time I'm like, yeah, that's good, you characters are really smart. Most of the time.

Where do you like to write?
I have a chair in our living room where I do most of my writing, but I also like to do it in bed because there's no TV in there and fewer distractions. Writing at libraries is good too because I can sit at a table or a cubicle and I pretty much have tunnel vision for the word document.

Do you read a lot?
A lot is probably an understatement. I work in a library and there's always another book to read. I've either always got my computer with Kindle going or a book in hand and I take books everywhere.

Who are some of your favourite authors?
I love Linda Lael Miller, Karen Witemeyer, Louis L'Amour, Leigh Greenwood, and Alex Flinn. They're all so good!

And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there?
I read a NaNoWriMo pep talk by Kate DiCamillo that talked about the nay sayers and people who try to stomp on your dreams. She said these people are as important to your writing as everyone who loves it. I agree with her 100%. For everyone who ever had a bad thing to say about my writing or ignored it, I have to admit, those people made me stronger and more determined to succeed. So embrace the bad and the good and become better. You can see the pin on my Pinterest board of Kate's words here: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/160229699213908934/

EXCERPT

"Would you like to dance?" Mischief sparkled in his blue eyes. "This is one of my favorite songs. Despite my almost solitary upbringing, dance was part of my education."
She felt heat scorch her cheeks. "Not part of mine, I'm afraid."
"I'll teach you." He faced her, putting one hand on her waist and taking her hand in his. "Do the opposite of what I do. I'll count."
He counted in fours, moving in time with the music. Celia stumbled, but after a few moments, she caught on. Turner led her around the room as they spun in circles. She laughed, forgetting her worries. It wasn't a ball and they were both in their nightclothes, but it was as elegant a dance as she could hope for.
Turner grinned as he pulled her a little closer. Their bodies came together, fitting perfectly. He dropped her hand, wrapping both arms around her waist. They stopped moving, standing in the shadow of the mastodon. Dark blond hair fell over his forehead, but it didn't hide the desire on his face.
"Turner?"
"Yes, Celia."
Her name was a delicate breath of air, and he clung to her as though afraid she was a dream. She was too wide awake to believe that. Her senses seemed sharper than ever. He smelled of the lemony soap Mrs. Southard used for washing the sheets and the coffee he'd had at supper. Even in the muted firelight, she saw him clearly, his golden hair bright as sunbeams, his blue eyes the color of the sky after a storm.
She'd never been a romantic, knowing all too well she'd either be a spinster or a housewife too busy with chores and children to consider stolen kisses. She'd never imagined a man would want to show her stars, or dance with her around the skeleton of an ancient beast. These were moments she could cherish forever, think of when her world came back into focus.
It all had to end.
He lifted his hand to her face, pushing a strand of hair over her ear. "You look upset."
"I'm grateful." She forced the words out. "It's not every day I get escorted around a ballroom."
"You mean it might never happen again." He looked somber. "You'll return to the kind of life you led before we met. One where you're often hungry, alone, and overworked."
She glanced away, hating the truth of his words. "It isn't that bad."
"Somehow I don't believe you."
He wouldn't, not after the way she'd reacted to everything he'd shown her in his life. They were from different places and he could never understand how she'd lived before. She couldn't explain it without risking his pity.
"You could always stay. I'll find something for you to do in the manor. Official book reader. In the evenings you could recount all my favorites and the new ones I don't have time for."
His breath stirred the hair near her ear, tickling her skin.
"I think I prefer the title of cookie sampler. Who wouldn't want to sit in Finny's kitchen all day tasting the items he draws out of the oven." She pressed her cheek against his velvet lapel and closed her eyes. "You should have taken me back to town when you found me at the spring."
"I couldn't do that." There was the slightest hitch in his voice, as though the idea caused him pain.
"I'll be ruined for life outside of Wildwood."
"Good. Then you'll have to come back."

Meet Torie James and find out what she lives next to!!!!

If you could live forever, what would you choose to live for? I chose love...
A silent guardian, Alexander has walked the corridors of time in pursuit of an end to a haunting prophecy. Sabrina has lived a life surrounded by modern magic, unaware that the greatest and deadliest of powers reside within her own soul. If it only takes the light of love to ignite the stars, what of the decadent seduction of darkness? All roads don’t lead home and some myths only grow into legend.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

1. Please tell us a little about yourself. I love chocolate more than any one person should, I still get choked up watching old black and whites on the A & E channel and I firmly, with all of my heart believe in Narnia, Hogwarts, Wonderland, Neverland and the TARDIS.

2. How did you come up with the idea for your book? Completely by accident. The book I began to write was not the one I ended up with! I had ideas about master vampires and potty mouthed, chocolate loving women with absolutely NO Arthurian overtones. It had merit, THAT book. But then one night, I fell asleep after watching Highlander and Harry Potter. I was in a foggy forest and suddenly there it was! An anicent boulder, covered in cobwebs, sitting in a shaft of radiant sunlight. Sticking out of it was the fabled sword known as Excalibur. It was my dream, and as we all know, dreams don’t need to make sense. That’s what reality is for. I marched right up and pulled that bad boy free. Then it shimmered and burst into glittery dust, disappearing from my grip. That’s when Merlyn appeared. Not the knock kneed, stick thin, old sorcerer of myth. My Merlyn looked more like Adrian Paul (I was watching Highland, remember!). He spoke and what he said threw me for a loop. And here we are...

3. When did the characters first pop into your head? Alexander and Sabrina both came to life a good month before I actually sat down and got to work. Sabrina was easy to flesh out, she’s me, just a bit more restrained. And that’s saying something since she’s a bit odd!

4. Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way? Surprises the whole way! The conversations I was having in my head among my characters was like to land me in a lovely padded room with my own huggy jacket!

5. Where do you like to write? In bed. My window faces the street and I literally live next door to Disneyland. I can see Sleeping Beauty’s castle from the bed and have my own personal fireworks show every night.

6. Do you read a lot? *twitches* Why? What have you heard? I can quit anytime I want!7. Who are some of your favourite authors? Anne Rice, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Stephen King, Charlaine Harris, Maggie Shayne, Johann Lindsey and Phillipa Gregory.

8. And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there? If you’re in this gig to make money and be famous, get out. Now. Spare yourself that pain of ego crushing. If you’re writing because it’s as vital to you as breathing, because you have worlds to share and because you want to leave behind a far better legacy than money ever could, hop aboard. This isn’t a field for the faint hearted. Be strong, be brave and never let anyone tell you you won’t succeed. When they say that, you tell them, “watch me“.

Thank you so much for having me here today! It was a lovely honor! Much love, magic and success!

Thanks for being here! And WOW about living next door to Disneyland!!!!!!!!!!

"Did you do that?"
"Do what? Screw up a perfectly good cake? Yes, yes I did."
He moved to her side. "No. I mean, did you make the fire go out?"
"What? I don't know. No. Yes. Maybe. Why?" She slid her eyes up to his and he was taken aback by the venom in that gaze.
"What's wrong with you?"
"You want the whole list or just the Cliff Notes?" She frowned back down at the pan and snorted in disgust at the blackened lump and shook her head. "Sorry about your oven. And pan. Cooking was never a strong point." She evaded answering his question.
"Then why did you start it?" He watched her agitated actions as she tried to dump out the "cake", shoving it down the garbage disposal with a wooden spoon. She was upset about something but for the life of him, he couldn't figure out what.
"My Huntress, what's wrong?"
"Stop that! Just stop that!" She threw the switch on the disposal, keeping her face from him.
"Stop what?" He was genuinely confused.
"That whole "my huntress" bit. I'm not yours." Killing the switch, she mindlessly cleaned up her mess, stepping around him, still not making eye contact then she switched topics. "What are you doing home already anyway? Thought you'd be out for hours or whatever. You know, hunting." The way she curled her lip on the last word wasn't lost on him.
"Sabrina, it's necessary I make sure there are no more loose rogues running through the city, I told you that. The last thing we need is an army sneaking up on us. We need to fo—"
"Focus. Yep. I know." She made to go around him again as she grabbed at some dusty measuring cups, but he snaked out a hand and pulled her closer.
"What is wrong with you? And don't bother ly—"
She cut him off curtly. "Lying? Because you'll know? Does that line work on all women or do you just save it for me?" Her angry, bright eyes met his again, her tone derisive as she forged on, not letting him answer. "Fine, want to know what's wrong? You. You're what's wrong. You come blowing into my life looking like yummy wrapped up in delish, turn me into a vampire...excuse me...a guardian...my bad. Then you make me live in this freaking palace with you. One minute you're either chastising me or you're turning me on, and then pushing me away. And all the while, feeding me some mythical crap story about how I'm your dead wife and then leave me here, alone, while you go off and fang fuck God knows how many women and I have to..."
Alex was close to losing it, half torn between laughing at her obvious jealousy and growling with displeasure at how she wasn't seeing the larger picture at all. He yanked her even closer.
Again, bad idea.
Her unfettered, sweetly rounded breasts crushed against his hard chest, causing her to squeak and him to moan, whispering low. "Are you truly being obtuse or do you just enjoy torturing me?"
"Torture you? Torture You? What about me? I go my whole damn life wondering when or if, I'll ever know what it feels like to desire anything other than work and there you are. But you can't stand touching me. I'm repulsive."
He wanted to shake her, throttle some sense into the stubborn package that was Sabrina. "So, the concerns of a thousand years mean nothing to you? Or the fact that I'm trying desperately to figure out how we keep the past from repeating itself and all you're concerned with is having sex?"
"Oh, way to trivialize my feelings. Thanks."
"They are trivial compared to everything else, yes. You think I'm not touching you because I find you revolting?" He pushed her back against the counter, a devil on his shoulder as he slowly ground his hips into her, letting her feel the steely bulge of his erection. "Does that feel like I'm disgusted by you?"
"Then why? Why won't you...?" She bit off her own low growl, shoulders slumping in defeat even as her arms slid around his waist unconsciously, keeping them together. "Why won't you make love to me?"
"Did you ever think for a moment in your lovely, outraged sense of dramatics that perhaps I don't want to do anything that will harm you more than help?" He couldn't be this close to her without his heart hitching painfully, his instincts keening as the sleeping beast struggled to take over. The fact remained it was becoming harder and harder to resist her, to resist the passion that was clearly there between them. It was much stronger this time around. Much.
"Alex." Her voice was husky, sincere. "I read your other journal. I know you think that making love will somehow make me more vulnerable. That you felt you had diminished Vivianne's power somehow. But, I don't think that's it at all."
"You read that?" A low growl rumbled deep in his chest. "Break into my things, did you?"
"Recon work. That's my story." She snaked a hand up his back to curl around his neck. "Alex. You didn't do anything wrong. Neither did Vivianne. Why do you think it made her vulnerable?"
He set his face mulishly. "Merlyn once said that her power lay in her purity. She died the day after I made her mine." His haunted tone was thick. "Merlyn also said he thought she was invulnerable to mortal weapons and yet Mordred ran her through and pierced her heart. Tell me how that was not my fault? I'm not willing to risk you like that. Do you understand me? I won't sit by and watch you die. Not again."
He lowered his head even as he spoke, unable to stop the scorching, needy kiss that had her clutching at his back and him lifting her slightly onto the counter. She wrapped her legs around him tightly, body arching under the contact. He was going up in flames, and knew she was melting into a puddle of need and arousal, he felt it for one hot moment.

"If you really want to read a book that hasn't been written yet, then you must write it" –Toni Morrison

Torie James has loved reading since she was old enough to hold a book in her lap. While her friends were out playing, she was generally curled up nearby, falling down rabbit holes, catching second stars to the right, and stepping through wardrobes into mysterious lands and countless adventures. When those stories ended, she made up her own and kept going. This later on translated into a strong passion for writing that has helped her keep her feet on the ground while her head stayed firmly in the clouds. Lover of Dr. Pepper, all things chocolate, and Duran Duran, her dreams finally became a reality recently, starting with the publication of co-authored poetry book titled Whispers in the Dark along with two contemporaries and friends, Ashley Nemer and Stacy Moran.
Timeless Night is her debut novel but she hopes to have many more forays into New Camelot where not everything remains myth.
Torie lives in Southern California with her family and a houseful of pets who rule the roost.

***REVIEW*** Every Seventh Wave by Daniel Glattauer

The eagerly awaited sequel to "Love Virtually"--2011's wittiest, most compelling love story. ""How will this go on, Leo? The same as before? But where will it go? Nowhere, just on. You live your life, I live mine. And the rest we'll live together." " "Love Virtually" ended as Leo abruptly departed for a new life in the United States, determined to end once and for all the intense cyber-exchange that threatened Emmi's marriage and his own happiness. But shouldn't these unconventional lovers--intimates who have never met in person--get another chance? Readers thought so, and begged for more. The captivating story continues as Leo returns from Boston and gradually resumes his email contact with Emmi. But now he has his own real-life relationship, with Pamela, a woman from the US. Still, Emmi and Leo cannot stop writing to each other, no matter the consequences. When Pamela learns of Leo's secret and unusual liaison, she returns home, and Emmi's marriage to Bernhard is tested to its limits. Once again Daniel Glattauer delivers an irresistible page-turner--and a sequel worthy of the original.

I didn't know there was a sequel to Love Virtually, until I saw it advertised in the back of the Hardcopy. I know I only gave Love Virtually 3.5/4 stars, but Every Seventh  Wave was only 99p on Kindle, and I kind of wanted to know what was going to happen after the cliff hanger at the end of book 1. I bought it straight after finishing book 1, and read it very quickly, over the course of 3 hours maybe.

I gave this one 3 stars, not really great, although it was alright.

It picks up where book 1 left off, with the administrator email. The it skips forwards a while, and alas Emmi and Leo are back in touch :) But things have changed since they last spoke.

I thought this one was rather fast paced, and could have done with a lot more story to it really. I felt this one seemed rather fictional if you know what I mean, like something that wouldn't really happen. I'm glad I read it to wrap the story up, and I did quite enjoy the characters. But to be honest, I wouldn't rush out and buy book 3 if it came out.

***REVIEW*** Love Virtually by Daniel Glattauer

"Write to me, Emmi. Writing is like kissing, but without lips. Writing is kissing with the mind."

It begins by chance: Leo receives emails in error from an unknown woman called Emmi. Being polite he replies, and Emmi writes back. A few brief exchanges are all it takes to spark a mutual interest in each other, and soon Emmi and Leo are sharing their innermost secrets and longings. The erotic tension simmers, and it seems only a matter of time before they will meet in person. But they keep putting off the moment - the prospect both excites and unsettles them. And after all, Emmi is happily married.

Will their feelings for each other survive the test of a real-life encounter? And if so, what then?

Love Virtually is a funny, fast-paced and utterly absorbing novel, with plenty of twists and turns, about a love affair conducted entirely by email.

I picked up this book ages ago when it was on offer in a book shop. The idea of a relationship through emails intrigued me, something different to anything I'd read before

I gave this 4 stars on Goodreads, although it's really a 3.5.

I read this rather quickly, over 2 days. Its an easy read, the whole book is just emails between Emmi and Leo. Emmi sends an email to a magazine company to cancel her subscription. She doesn't realise she gets the address wrong and the email falls into the hands of Mr Leo Leike. He replies, and then she replies back. Thus starts an exchange of emails between the 2, and a friendship blooms into romance.

It was interesting, well interesting enough for me to grab book 2 on kindle (Every Seventh Wave), and I actually want to move straight onto it as Love Virtually left on a little cliff hanger!

As I said, 3.5/4 stars from me.

Interview with Mickey J. Corrigan about her new release Whiskey Sour Noir

Hi Mickey :D Thanks for stopping by today!

Please tell us a little about yourself.
My real name is Virginia Aronson. I published lots of books, articles, poetry and fiction before I adopted a pen name. Mickey J. Corrigan was "born" a couple of years ago with my first romantic comedy, the little ebook novella Dream Job. Since then, I've published five more novellas and a novel, Sugar Babies, a romantic thriller about professional girlfriends.
Sometimes I think I might kill off Mickey. Just for fun. But her new series has been launched by The Wild Rose Press, so I can't get rid of her just yet. The first book in The Hard Stuff series is Whiskey Sour Noir. It's only available on Kindle right now, but will be everywhere starting March 5th.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?
Whiskey Sour Noir is about Tami Lee Conkers, a tough chick who works in a homeless shelter and hangs out in dumpy bars. She falls for Cat Avery, this gorgeous, intelligent man. But he's a convicted sex offender out on probation. His life is totally screwed, yet he insists he's innocent. She wants to believe him.
I was inspired to write this novella by a real story a friend of mine told me. His brother-in-law was accused of buying child porn. The legal battle ruined his reputation, his career and his marriage, and he ended up committing suicide. But he insisted he did not download those horrible photos onto his computer at work. I kind of believed him. It's just too easy for someone else to do this to a person, then turn them in. And it can absolutely destroy their life.

When did the characters first pop into your head?
About 24 hours before I began writing the story. I wasn't sure how it would all work out in the end, but I wanted to let Tami Lee explore her ability to love someone who was in such trouble with the rest of the world. Could she believe in him when nobody else did?
Cat Avery is such a hunk, a girl can't help falling for him. Yet, being a convicted sex offender in this culture is as low as it gets. So the conflict is very real.

Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straightforward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way?
The story has more humor than I expected. As I was writing, I had no idea where their love was heading. The Gulf Stream had stopped flowing, altering the weather and wreaking chaos, and the entire world was freaking out. So there was a global crisis to contend with too. I had to hope everything would work out for Tami Lee and Cat Avery… and the rest of the planet.

Where do you like to write?
I write at my desk. I used to write in libraries and cafes, but now I like being in my little office with the sun shining in.

Do you read a lot?
I'm a huge reader. I read at least two books a week. Right now I'm reading essays by George Saunders and an academic book about dying. And for enjoyment, a novel by Jennifer Egan.

Who are some of your favourite authors?
Too many to list! Top favorites include Charles Bukowski, Bret Easton Ellis, Denis Johnson, David Benioff, Daniel Woodrell and Dennis Lehane. Just to name a few. For anything economic, Michael Lewis is fantastic. I also love Tom Wolfe. Jay McInerney. Andre Dubois. Haruki Murakami. Nick Flynn is exceptional; I just went to a reading the other night and he was terrific. I find new authors I like all the time, too. I just discovered Jennifer Egan and she's amazing. There are so many talented writers out there.

And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there?
Read a lot. Read, read, read!
As for writing, start small. First write a flash piece, real short fiction. Then write another one. Keep practicing. Get sharper, polish your words. Once you feel skilled at the short pieces, move up to writing longer stories. Or a novel.
Keep at it. It's tough to tell a story well, to develop interesting characters who can engage readers. Writing takes more practice than talent. It's a craft. You gotta put in the time.
I'm an editor and I work with people every day who want to publish. I always advise my clients: do not be afraid of editing. And never be afraid of rejection. This is all part of the process of publishing your best work. Keep trying. The writers who succeed are the ones who keep at it.
So don't stop believing!

Tami Lee Conkers is a spunky Florida chick who works at a homeless shelter. Cat Avery is handsome, well-educated, articulate, funny and dark. He lives in a bum motel and bartends right down the street from Tami Lee. She falls for him—even though she knows better. The man is a registered sex offender.
Avery claims he's innocent. Tami Lee is following her heart, but she's afraid she knows where that will take her. The love they make feels doomed. All around them, life is going from bad to worse. Especially since the Gulf Stream has stopped moving for the first time in thousands of years.
An end of the world romance, Whiskey Sour Noir is an engaging story of two unlikely lovers battling tough odds.
Love can be so bittersweet.

Come and meet Jett Silver, star (and Dom) of H.C Brown's 'My Lover, My Dom' :)

Good morning Jett Silver :) Now sit your gorgeous ass down and let me get to quizzing you! (Im actually shaking a little!)

Tell us little bit about yourself first.

I’m a Dom and I manage rock groups, well mostly the big ones like Cold Heat currently topping the charts in five countries. I live the life; the rock and roll scene gives my Dom persona room to breathe.

I want to hear more about this club of yours ;)

Club Whips is a member’s only club- clean- oh yeah, we have VERY strict rules- but it’s not the high class set up of Club Floggers, although the guys from Floggers often drop by. Club Whips is for the raunchier connoisseur. It’s a place to get down and dirty. Where Doms can discipline subs in public in all states of undress if you get my meaning?

And I've heard your friend Brad is quite yummy?!

Yummy is an understatement. Hot, delicious, and insatiable would be enough for me but Brad is a millionaire, big, handsome and with an untouched body, any Dom would die to flog. He can run big business blindfold but can’t cope with his homophobic father. He thinks he can handle me but Brad is innocent and vanilla. He craves domination and I’m the man who will make him beg—frequently.

So come one, we said we'd do a little favourites quiz too is that right?

So lets get started with an easy one:

What's your favourite Dessert?
The taste of a man’s cock.

What's your favourite meal?
The taste of a man’s mouth

What's your favourite drink?
Bourbon

What's your favourite Movie?
Man of Steel

What's your favourite Song?
For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert

What's your favourite book?
The Club Flogger’s Series by H.C. Brown

What's your favourite item of clothing?
A ball spreader . . . on my sub

Where's your favourite place to go on a date?
My dungeon at Club Whips.

What's your favourite memory?
So many, drop into Club Whips and I’ll share them with you

Thanks for dropping by and gracing us with your sexiness ;)
