Short Story by me - The Bench Meet

I entered this short story into a competition, I didn't win.

The story was prompted by a picture. Since I can't use the picture, let me describe it. A snowy, winters day. There is a snow covered park bench, lots of trees sprayed with white, no one is around.

Here is my story, a short 297 words

The Bench Meet

For 57 years, George and Edna had sat on this bench. They had their first date here, George proposed marriage here, they brought their children here, and their Grandchildren.

And now they were here again. It was a cold winters day, and the bench was covered in snow, so they both had wrapped up in scarves, gloves, hats and warm winter coats. But the cold didn't bother them too much, they loved being here together. Every friday afternoon, Edna popped to the library, where she met some of her friends to discuss the latest book they'd all been reading. Well, what else did she have to keep her ocupied when George was watching his football! She loved reading, so why not have a book club with her friends. What was the point of reading an amazing book if you didn't tell people about it. After book club finished, George would aways meet Edna at their bench, half way between the library and home. If it was cold, George brought home madde hot chocolate in travel mugs to keep them warm, or if it was summer, Edna would buy a couple of milkshakes at the little stand on her way. They would chat about anything they could think of. Discuss family meetings that were coming up, chat about what Edna and her friends had been up to, or talk about how Georges favourite team had won or lost their game.

Yes this was their bench, their favourite spot. After a while, they got up, and walked hand in hand down the footprint covered winding park path.

The snow had melted from the seat now, and you could see the plaque that had been placed there.

'For George and Edna, this was their bench'

'RIP '

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed :)

Wednesdays Words - Finding time to read and write

Wednesdays words is back people! Today is finding time to read and write.

A lot of people have asked me where I find time to read and write, especially having 2 children under the age of 5, both of whom have autism. The answere is simple really, whenever I have a spare 5 minutes!

In the afternoons, my children get to sit with their tablets, and play some lovely little kids games on them. This gives me a little whille to sit down witha  good book, a sexy short, or write a few more words ot one of my ever going stories.

But, I have a vice. Yes me, I have a vice. I am a smoker :O So whenevr I nip out for 5 minutes to have a sneaky cigarette, my kindle app on my phone is so handy, adn I can get a good few pages done then too.

But lately, my little boy has been waking up at stupid O'Clock in the morning. So at 6.30 when I hear him chattering away to himself in his room, I lie in bed with the kindle app opnen again, and get 10/15 mintues of reading doen then too.

Night time is a time for me and the other half to sit down and watch some tv, in much needed quiteness!!

So thats when and how I get time to read or write. When do you read or write?

Too Cold to Love (Giovanni Clan #2) by Doris O'Connor

Too Cold to Love (Giovanni Clan #2) by Doris O'Connor

Marco Giovanni has shut off his emotions following a messy divorce. His small daughter and his chain of bakeries are all he needs in his life. The string of nannies are an unfortunate necessity he could well do without. So why does his body have to remember its needs now with the latest and most unsuitable nanny ever?

Elise has always been the responsible one, so when she receives yet another SOS phone call from her wayward twin, she does the only thing she can do, she steps into her shoes. Having to go back to nannying is hard enough, the unexpected attraction to her arrogant employer is impossible to deal with. Especially when she is forced to agree to a marriage of his convenience to pay off the debt her twin accrued.

In a marriage based on blackmail can passion turn into love, or will secrets and lies destroy all?

Ms O'Connor can do no wrong with these very sexy Italians that play in her mind!

Too Cold to Love is the second book in the Giovanni Clan series, and is jsut a good as the first book, Too Hot To Handle.

I loved the story of Marco and Elise. At first a very love/hate relationship. One minute they're biting each others heads off, the next they're donig some very questionable things with tinned fruit (read it and you'll never look at a pineapple in the same way again!!)!

Marco is a strong, sexy, hot-headed italisn who seems to want what he wants, and gets it.

Elise a very caring person, who will obviously do anything to help someone she loves. Thats how it all started right?

Marcos daughter Mimi is a very cute little character, and I could totally relate to how the family felt with her issues. Lets just say what Elise teaches her is wonderful, a heartfelt moment in my opinion.

Mamma G (Stella) is back in this story too, and is the same as always getting into others business, and trying to help. I suppose thats what being the head of a massive family like the Giovannis does to you!

A wonderful story of love and passion. The sex scened were so hot, and really well written. They got up to some kinky stuff those 2!

A great read, and I would definately recommend anyone who hasn't started this series, get out and buy it!!!!!!! You will no doubt fall in love with the Giovanni men, I know I did!

In the Recess of her Soul by Raven McAllan

In the Recess of her Soul by Raven McAllan

Release your inner devil and pay the price. Was a year of hot sex worth the humiliation to come?

For over a year, Livvy woke up sobbing, hot, bothered, and reaching for something. Sael was the something, but he had a secret, one that would make or break them, and could well cost him his existence.

I received this from Raven a while back, my apologies to her for not reading it sooner!

Luckily, my 2 little ones who are full of cold, sat on the sofa this morning watching their much loved 'Gruffalo' movies, and let me read this book from start to finish!

This was Ravens first venture into the Supernatural/paranormal erotic genre. And I must say, she done it well!

I loved the character of Livvy, a lady who knows what she wants and is not afraid to stand up for it! She had some rather witty one liners in there too.

Sael was hot, a devil maybe, but I loved the way he used his words, and honestly, he could have bowled me over!

I don't want to put any spoilers out here, but lets just say you'll be suprised at the ending, I was! What a  twist I never saw coming!

So if you like the sound of this, get your hands on a kindle copy at Amazon

Author Bio

Raven lives in Scotland, along with her husband and their two cats—their children having flown the nest—surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in her books.

She is used to sharing her life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge.

Her very understanding, and long-suffering DH, is used to his questions unanswered, the dust bunnies greeting him as he walks through the door, and rescuing burned offerings from the Aga. (And passing her a glass of wine as she types furiously.)

Forbidden Angel by Megan D Martin

Forbidden Angel by Megan D Martin

When captured by the Nazi's, Sarah finds herself in a concentration camp that not only brings her closer to death...but closer to love.

Sarah Brenner, a young Jewish woman, is terrified when she finds herself in the heat of a railcar bound for a work camp in Nazi Germany. For years she, along with her mother and sister, had hidden from the SS, but no one could hide forever. Her hatred for those who have enslaved them is ever-growing, especially when they arrive and she encounters the shockingly handsome Nazi doctor who can’t seem to keep his eyes—or hands—off her.

Aurel Rothstein is not your everyday concentration camp physician. The endless prisoners and lack of care he's allowed to give have made him numb to the work he so coveted. It isn’t until he comes face to face with a beautiful prisoner that his heart becomes involved with his job—a forbidden and fatal move to any Nazi.

When a vile soldier takes direct interest in Sarah, she will be forced to make a choice that will change her life forever: ignore the pull toward the handsome doctor or give in to the forbidden passion he awakens with only a look. Either way they both risk everything...

I received this book from the lovely Megan D Martin in return for a review on my blog. I was more than happy to do this, it's the first time I've been asked by an author to do a review :)

I remember first seeing this a while back when another author friend of mine read it. And honestly, I put it on my to-read list, but I wasn't sure about it. I have never read anything like this before so wasn't sure how I'd get on with it. But it was Megan asking me to do a review that got me to pick it up, and I'm so glad I did! I'm going to try not to go into too much detail here!

The book is great. I picked it up yesterday morning and didn't put it down until I'd finished! A wonderful love story in a horrific situation.

Megan goes into great detail of the surroundings of the camp, which really gets you a good feel for it. I remember feeling so sorry for everyone in the first chapter when Sarah is describing the bodies, the cannibalism, and the smell of the dead.

At first, reading the blurb I thought, 'how could anyone fall for someone like that? Where is this book going to take us?'. But after reading it, and understanding Aurel, and actually seeing what he done to help people, I totally knew the answers. Aurel was a doctor in a concentration camp. But he was different, different from the other guards, and other doctors.

I loved the characters of Sarah and Aurel, you could feel the passion between them. I particularly liked the bath scene. When you read it, you will know why ;)

The story tore you in so many directions. You feel so happy during parts of the story, sad during others, and anger during others. The character Ivo was so well written, I could have jumped into the book and pummelled him myself. What an awful, arrogant arse he seemed to be!

All in all, I think Megan done a great job with this story, and I am so glad I read it. Get it on your to-read list!!!

Wednesdays Words: Desperate Housewives

Wednesdays words again people!

WARNING!!!! Please do not read this if you have not yet finished watching Desperate Housewives as this is what I am gong to be chatting about today!!!

My Other Half bought me the first season, 2 years ago for Christmas, and I really liked it, so the next year he bought me season 2. Then Christmas just gone, he bought me the full season 1-8 box set! I was so pleased with it. I have watched it every morning since then, when the kids are at school, or are happily playing themselves.

This morning I watched the very last episode, and I have to say, I blubbered like a baby!

Please remember not to read on if you don't want MAJOR spoilers!Or there will be no point ever watching it byt the end of this blog post!!

So here's some of the huge moments from DH that I remember.

One massive thing that happened, in season 8, was the untimely death of Mike. I mean, I loved Mike, who didn't. He was amazing, sweet, generous, and not to mention, damn well sexy! So when that car pulled up, I just knew what was going to happen. I remember jumping to the edge of my seat and shouting NO!!!! Then I cried and cried throughout the whole next episode, the funeral and the four girls remembering what Mike had done in their lives. I miss Mike :(

Gabrielles affair with her teenage gardener, John Rowland. Jessie Metcalfe is hot, and I loved seeing him rolling around with not top on. He did come back twice  I think in later seasons, once when Gabby bumped into him and his fiance, and once when he tried to start up their affair again.

Bree's court case drama. The whole Alejandro thing had me waiting so impatiently to see what would happen. I was sure Carlos would end up back in prison, but thanks to the massive help from Karen McKluskey, Bree was free to go, no one was jailed!

Susan and Mikes 'will they/won't they' relationship. I have always rooted for these two, and was so happy when it finally worked out for them, then Mike went and died! Mikes relationship with others such as Katherine Mayfair and Edie Britt, no way was any of those going to work out. And Susans relationships with people like Ian Hainsworth, and again with Karl Mayer (her ex husband), I'm so glad they didn't last! When Mike was run down by that car (crazy Orson!!!) on his way to propose to Susan, I wanted to find Orson myself and turn him in to the police!

Lynette and Tom, oh what a great couple they are! When they split up, I was gutted, truly gutted. To me they seem like the perfect couple. Lovely home, 5 great kids, good jobs, and they bicker all the time! Which is what any normal couple does! When Tom went back to tell Lynette he still loved her, but saw her being unzipped by a man (it was Lee, HE'S GAY!!!! Get your eyes checked Tom!!), I was so sad for them. I thought they'd never realize how much they loved each other. But luckily, they did!

Julie Meyer ending up pregnant, and the father is....... Porter Scavo?! How mad was that?

Mary Alice Young was a great character through the whole show. I loved that she narrated almost every episode (only a couple of exceptions I think), and I liked the flashback episodes where she  starred in them. One in particular comes to mind, and that's the one where Bree checks herself into a motel with a bottle of wine and a gun. She is very close to suicide, and Mary Alice appears. It was so sad.

Carlos going blind! This was a massive shock! I couldn't;'t believe he was blind! Skip forward to when his sight starts to come back after an operation, and I was happy. But the part which got me massively was when Gabby came in the house, and Carlos was on the floor hugging his daughters, crying, saying he could see them. Oh, it broke my heart. I can't imagine how good that would feel!

Patrick Logan! I was looking forward to seeing who had been cast as this character, and was so shocked when he appeared, John Barrowman!! To me John has always been a happy guy, but he really played Patrick well! And I know it sounds wrong, but he was very sexy playing a bad guy! His death was a good one,  blown up by your own bomb!

The episode about Eli Scruggs, the local handyman. This was a sad episode, and yes I cried, again! Eli seemed like such a lovely man, a man who would do anything to help anyone. This was the shows 100th episode.

The Tornado episodes were fantastic! I remember being so immersed in these episodes. When The house collapsed and Tom, Ida and the Scavo kids were inside, and Lynette was outside screaming, I was so upset. If those kids hadn't of come out of there alive, I possibly wouldn't have went on watching more (I say that but I don;'t know how true it would be lol). But they did, and that moment when they crawled out, and Tom followed, I was so relieved. Then Ida, poor Ida, after saving the children, died. Lynette and Karen scattering her ashes was lovely though.

And I have to talk about Karen McKluskey. What a wonderful woman, and a brilliant actress. In season 8 when the cancer comes back, I found myself thinking, 'Wow, they've made her look really ill'. Then this morning I found out that she really did have cancer, and only 20 days after that final episode aired on TV, the actress Kathryn Joosten, who played the lovely Mrs McKluskey for all that time, passed away. And I felt so so sad.

The very last episode was lovely. Julie had her baby, Renee and Ben were married, Poor Mrs McKluskey passed on, and the future of the four friends was shown. The best moment for me in that episode was the very last scene. Susan is in her car with MJ, Julie and the new baby (leaving the lane), and asks if they mind her taking one last spin around the block before they leave. As she does so, the ghost of Wisteria Lane are all there, watching and smiling. But what got me completely, and broke me down into tears again, was as the car first pulled away, you hear Mary Alice say 'As Susan left her driveway, she had a feeling she was being watched' and Mike was there, watching his family. It almost killed me. Marc Cherry did a cameo as a removal person in that last scene, which I thought was really sweet.

Other characters I loved were
  • Bob and Lee,
  • Carlos Solis (a rather handsome man!)
  • Andrew Van De Kamp
  • The Scavo twins,
  • Katherine Mayfair

I found characters I didn't like so much too.

    • Edies new husband Dave Williams (what a great actor), was an awful awful man!!!! When he took MJ and tried to kill him in the car?! I'm glad Mike wasn there (again another reason to love him *swoon*)
    • George the Pharmacist! What a nut case that guy was!
    • Orson Hodge, I never really liked him throughout the whole show.
    • Sam Allen. Rex Van De Kamps love child! Hated that guy (although he had nice hair!)

Remembering all the people who passed away (the ones I remember)
    • Mike Delfino (Drive by shooting by a loan shark) Oh I'm gonna cry again just thinking about it!
    • Rex Van De Kamp (Poisoned)
    • Karl Meyer (The Plane Crash)
    • Edie Britt (Elecrtic Shock)
    • Mary Alice (Suicide)
    • Karen McKluskey (Cancer)
    • Martha Huber (Murdered)
    • Patrick Logan (blown up)
    • Matthew Applewhite (shot by police)
    •  Nora Huntington (Shot by a crazy woman!)
    • Beth Young (suicide)
    • Ida Greenberg (Tornado)
    • Victor Lang (Tornado)
    • Eli Scruggs (heart attack)
All in all I have to say I absolutely wholeheartedly LOVED Desperate Housewives so much, and I'm so sad I have no more to watch!

Too Hot To Handle by Doris O'Connor

Too Hot To Handle by Doris O'connor

When firefighter Alex Giovanni returns to his old neighborhood to fulfill family obligations, he is reunited with the woman inhabiting his dreams. The sexy siren ran out on him after one explosive night many years ago. Hiding behind her sensible clothes she portrays the perfect image of Miss Prim and Proper and Alex vows to unlock the passionate woman he remembers. Mixing business with pleasure has never been so much fun.

Kitty Jenkins’ orderly life gets turned upside down when Alex walks into her school. Their passion filled night four years ago has left her with a secret that threatens to tear them apart. Giving into Alex is out of the question, regardless of how much her body craves his touch.

When secrets spill and disaster strikes, can their passion turn into love?

What an amazing book! I honestly have hardly taken my eyes away from my kindle today as I needed to finish this.

Everyone knows how much I love Doris Club Ink books, but I think I may be falling for another family now! Mr Giovanni is so damn sexy, and a fire fighter too? Well, that just made my day ;)

    SPOILERS!!

At the start of the book when Kitty meets Alex and ends up having a passionate one night stand with him, I was glad she got a good night. But as the story moved on and 4 years later, Alex ends up back in her life, I was thrilled! And I just knew he had to be the father of her son too. Little Noah was such a sweet character in the book, bless him.

One character I couldn't stand at first was Stella (mamma Giovanni), but as the story moves on, you begin to understand her a lot more, and I actually began to rather like her. Irene on the other hand.... Grrrrr!!! And not in a good way! I would have punched her a lot sooner than Kitty did!

The accident, I was so sad when this part of the story happened. My first thought was that he'd been hurt in a fire, but I never thought he'd been hit by a bloody car! I was praying along with them that Alex would wake, and was so glad when he did. And I will admit, in the last chapter of the book, when he says the best part of their wedding was when he stood and walked towards his bride to be at the alter, I did shed a tear or two!

The sex scenes were amazing, I loved how Kitty and Alex just couldn't keep their hands off each other anytime they were alone together. I could feel the passion between them.

I really really enjoyed this adn am so glad I picked it up! I really want to move onto the second in the series now too, Too Cold To Love. I think I'l have to buy it lol!

Well done Doris, great story, and I think Mr G is fan-bloody-tastic!

Wine And Nine by various authors

Wine and Nine by Raven McAllan, Doris O'Connor, Jorja Lovett, Alannah Harte, Cherie Nicholls, Arya Grey, Brenda Brakeway, Michaela Rhua and Ursula C. Williams.

Magic Mac and his Mystical tours, the brochure said. What it didn't tell the participants of this coach trip is that the quaint Scottish Inn they stopped at held a secret.
When you add women, wine, and men the outcome is never certain. Will it be happy ever after or is this just the beginning?
Find out in these nine scorching erotic short stories, guaranteed to raise a kilt or two!

Wow, what can I say about this book?! I've been totally engrossed in it this afternoon, I could have done with more!

Basically it's nine short tales about 8 women who go on a tour of Scotland, Mac being their tour guide. Each author wrote a story of one of the 8 women on the magical tour.

The stories fitted well, and I must say were scorching hot! I loved the twists in some of the stories, and the major one for me was in the last story, the story of Mac himself.

A great read. I'd definately recommend!

    Happy Valentines Day

Happy valentines day to you all.

Here is a picture of the beautiful red roses my other half got me :)

And here is a great love poem by Robert Burns

    A Red, Red Rose

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
    That's newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
    That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee well, my only Luve
And fare thee well, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.

    Great Author! Julia Donaldson

    Another Great Author post here!

    Today is Julia Donaldson.

I know I know, a childrens book author you say? Well yes! I love her books, and so does my daughter!

    So far we have:
    Room on the Broom
    The Gruffalo
    The Gruffalos Child
    The Smartest Giant in Town
    Monkey Puzzle
    The Snail and the Whale
    Superworm
    Tyrannosaurus Drip
    What The Ladybird Heard
    The Princess and The Wizard
    Sharing a Shell
    The Gruffalo Song book
    The Gruffalos Child Song book

I love the rhyming in Ms Donaldsons books, the stories are always fun too. Me and the daughter will often recite the Gruffalo word for word while playing out the actions.

The Gruffalo was the first of Julias books we read, and my daughter fell in love with it. She now knows some of the books off by heart and doesn't need the book in front of her anymore! The pictures are great too.

I'm sure all kids will love these books, so if you haven't read any of them with your children yet, go out and get one!

    Happy reading! :)

A Shimmer of Silk by Raven McAllan

A Shimmer of Silk (The House on Silk Street Series) by Raven McAllan

Deborah may not know the full truth about her childhood, but she knows she needs to find her soul. During one of her performances at Silk Street, she attracts the attention of Oliver, Lord Craster. Known for his extreme tastes, he sensed a kindred soul in Deborah.

Persuading her that their needs mesh proves a challenge, even to a man of his experience. Will Oliver be the man she needs to unlock her secrets? Or will his dominance scare her too much to even try?

I finished this book this morning while lying in bed...wide awake... as my lovely daughter decided to wake at 6am, then go back to sleep leaving me with nothing to do!

I remember reading the first House on Silk Street book, 'Silver Silk Ties', a little while back, and really enjoying it.You can see the review of that one here:

    http://lovebooksblogbooks.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/silver-silk-ties-house-on-silk-street.html

    Anyway, back to book 2.

I loved this story! Deborahs way of life at the start of the book completely had me captured, the fire eating, the fire play in front of that whole audience, I mean wow! But, it was Lord Crasters words he whispered into her ear during that performance, that really got me. I couldn't wait for her to say yes to him and start a great relationship, and a bloody hot one at that!  The scenes were amazing, and I have a fantastic picture of Oliver in my mind now ;)

Raven does well with her regency books, she knows how to get your attention, without making the story sound too 'oldy-worldy' if you know what I mean.

Well done again Ms McAllan, and I look forward to the next instalment coming (no pun intended :O)

    Wednesdays Words

So we're back there again huh? What am I going to rant on about today?

    DIETS!!!

I started dieting back in August, and by Christmas had lost 20lbs (I know, I was very proud of myself), but over Christmas I decided to push the diet back a bit and have a little fun. Well, a little fun turned into too much fun, and after very reluctantly getting back on the scales, I had put back on....7lbs!!!!! I was gutted. So an exercise bike was bought!

I've started out slowly on the bike, 11 minutes I lasted on the first day lol! Slowly moving it up though, and am now doing 25 minutes on it.

I've cut back on the crappy foods, and am watching my calories again (this is where a calorie counting app comes in handy), but guess what? No weight loss! I am getting a bit gutted about it now, so really need to start watching what I'm eating, even more than I already do. So it looks like a lot of veg coming up for me. Not that I mind, I love veg, Broccoli and carrots are my favorite.

But diets in general? This is the best I've ever done on a diet. I don't really think fad diets work well.

My uncle does the Atkins diet before he goes on holiday, and does lose weight, but it comes back on again. I couldn't do that one anyway, I'm diabetic, no carbs would like... kill me! I've seen people do the soup diet (I'd get bored too easily of soup, not a massive soup fan), the cornflakes diet (not a fan of those either!), and a load of other random ones.

I honestly think the best way is to just watch what you eat, treat yourself a little otherwise you'll not stick to it, but plenty of veg, and some good exercise will do you great! And it helps a lot when you're not dong it alone, my other half is also dieting and it does help a lot.

I'm starting to get a bit down over the eating healthy/exercising, and still not losing weight, but I'm sure when the weight starts coming off again I'll be happy! :)

So, diets? What do you think?

    Wednesdays Words

I'm back with more babbling lol :)

So.... why is it when you have children you turn into an old person?!

Saturday night me and the other half went to a rock gig with some friends. Great night, good music, some embarrassing dancing (from me), and drinks.....oh my, drinks! I had 4 pints of cider and 3 Jeigerbombs, and I was drunk! So, silly drunk me decided 'oh, shall we tag along with some of my friends into town to a club?'. Bad idea! I lasted half an hour before needing to go home and sleep! Here's this club, jumping with people, music and drinks.... and I'm standing there yawning! 2 hours later, after waiting in a taxi queue, I got to bed.

4 hours sleep until the kids woke me up, all day Sunday I was like something from The Walking Dead!

I used to go clubbing every Friday and Saturday until 4am, and still get up for work at 7am. Is this what having children does to you? Once we've had children and stop going out as much, do we turn into old folks? My neighbor who went to town with us is 4 years younger than me, and I've started referring to her as' the young'un'!.

Well, after Saturday nights escapades, a take away and a night in front of the TV in my pjs would suit me fine! A nice meal at a restaurant sometimes (which we did last night, 16 of us!), and as long as I'm in bed before 11pm, I'm happy :)

Can you still do the things you used to at nights?  Has having children done the same to you as it has to me? Let me know!
